The Science of Reading
Essential CPD for Primary Teachers and TAs
This 1 hour session is essential CPD for anyone teaching reading in YR, KS1 and KS2. We will consider current research evidence re the ‘science of reading’ and unpick this in a practical way, ensuring that all delegates leave the session with a deep understanding of the ‘reading jigsaw’.
This session will:
- Explore the essential knowledge, skills and behaviours pupils need to become successful readers.
- Examine the science of reading and what it means for all those involved in supporting readers in the primary phase.
- Consider the importance of the science of reading to assessment and targeting support for developing readers in YR/KS1 and struggling readers in KS2.
