Support for clusters: Schools working together
We provide whole day training events and twilight sessions for groups of schools who wish to work together. Many schools work closely with their neighbouring schools on a range of aspects linked to Literacy.
Cluster training topics
- Grammar & sentence level work (including focus on SPAG)
- New Curriculum
- Developing Reading
- Guided Reading
- Guided Writing
- Improving boys’ writing
- Visual Literacy
- Assessment for Learning
- Assessing Pupil Progress
- Training for Teaching Assistants
- Using the Outdoor Environment to Inspire Writing
- Speaking and Listening
- Learning styles and developing independent learners
- Moderation of Reading and Writing
- Literacy Governor Training
In particular, as schools are responsible for ensuring that teacher assessment accurately reflects a child's attainment, we have supported many schools in working collaboratively in clusters to moderate attainment in reading and writing. Our support for moderation will secure knowledge of the national standards and give teachers confidence in making judgments relating to reading and writing.
